Fehu as a Birth Rune

Fehu people know how to turn effort into results you can touch: money, things, projects, opportunities. They need to feel that life is growing and bearing fruit. They start earning early and understand the value of things well.

But the heart of Fehu isn't hoarding; it is movement. This rune's wealth is alive: it comes, works and moves on. Fehu's lesson is to share what you earn generously and not to confuse a person's worth with the worth of what they own.

• Earning. You see where value can be gained and aren't afraid to go for it.
• The energy of beginnings. You easily launch something new: a business, a project, a tradition.
• Generosity. You enjoy sharing, and people sense your openness.
• Practicality. You judge ideas by what they will actually deliver.

Fehu's shadow is greed and fear of loss. The person clings so tightly to what they earned that wealth stops moving and becomes a burden. Money becomes the measure of everything.

Another pitfall is extravagance: money comes easily and leaves just as easily. The rune's lesson is the balance between receiving, keeping and giving.

In a couple you are a generous, caring partner. You like giving gifts, creating comfort and providing for those close to you. With you, life feels secure in a material sense.

Take care not to measure love by gifts and investments. Your partner needs not only what you give but you yourself: your time, attention and openness.

Fehu suits work tied to resources and growth: business and trade, finance, farming, real estate, project management, any venture you can start from scratch and grow.

You have a good feel for money and know how to multiply it. Your strength opens up when what you earn is put to work rather than left idle.

Fehu's period falls at the height of summer, right after the solstice. It is a time of abundance: the fields are green, the cattle are grazing, and though harvest is still far off, everything is already growing. Fehu belongs to Freyr's aett, the first eight runes of the Futhark, and opens the whole runic circle.

Behind Fehu stands Dagaz, the rune of dawn: the new year begins after the longest day. Ahead is Uruz, raw strength, needed so that wealth not only appears but grows strong.
